Parma CERT is a citizen based volunteer group that assists first responders (police and fire) in time of emergency. In the past we have assisted in search and rescue operations in Brecksville, assisting the American Red Cross in setting up shelters in Parma for fire and flooding victims in 2006 and 2007. In August of 2007, over a four day period, Parma CERT assisted the American Red Cross and provided 327 volunteer hours to assist Parma residents who were victims of flooding at a shelter at Valley Forge High School.
Parma CERT is looking for new members to join our ranks. New Training classes begin twice a year. The CERT training program is a 20 hour course containing eight modules and is provided at no charge to new members. Upon graduation of the training class, members are given equipment for use during emergencies.
All training opportunities and meetings are held at the Parma Senior Center, located behind Parma City Hall on Ridgewood Dr. in Parma.
